Renault Supply Entire French Town With Free Zoe’s

Free electric cars for all! Renault gave away a bunch of Zoe’s to a small town.

Renault Zoes are small, fun, affordable, fully electric cars that have now taken over the micro-town of Appy in Ariege, Southwest France. The entire town, although only comprising of around 30 residents, was supplied with a Renault Zoe to use for three years.

Although you can find more people in a supermarket than you can in this town, the move was still a pretty great one and we appreciate Renault giving away these little electric hatchbacks, even if it was just for publicity purposes.

This makes Appy the very first settlement to have all residents exclusively driving electric vehicles, according to Renault.

Sure, this bold move may be just for advertisement sake but Renault also wanted to prove to the public that it is easy to change from combustion vehicles to electric ones. If the remote and secluded town of Appy can do it, so can you! Each resident was also gifted with a home charger, which buyers in the UK would also receive when buying a new Zoe.

The Renault Zoe is a very popular EV being 4th on the list of best-selling EVs in the UK in 2016 and selling over 100,000 models in Europe so far which, for an electric car, is very impressive. Thanks to its lower-than-most starting price, attractive looks and very practical range now being 245 miles, the Zoe is a no-brainer to many looking for a cheap and cheerful EV to potter about in.

With range anxiety forever being a hurdle to potential EV buyers, Renault (and many other companies) are trying their best to persuade the public that switching to solely driving an electric vehicle needn’t be so worrisome. Appy is one of the most isolated towns in the whole of France surrounded by mountains and forests as far as the eye can see so Renault sure did pick the right place to prove a point!

Now, with the new Zoe being available to purchase online and in showrooms with £1,000 taken off the price until the end of September AND a free home wall box being included AND a five-year, 100,000-mile warranty, with three years’ roadside assistance and an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty on the battery there’s more reason than ever to get one.
