Now, it’s been brought back to the tune of many people’s nostalgia-filled memories with state-of-the-art lights and modern design concepts.Nicolas Jardin, the designer of the exterior of the new Renault 5 Prototype, has done his best to preserve the iconic design of the original while also modernising it completely. Certainly no easy task.In the first instalment of an episodic web series, Nicolas goes over the design for the new headlights. Featuring a fairly new technology mostly reserved for luxury cars, the Renault 5 Prototype features matrix LED headlights.These LED headlights feature an array of individual lights that can act independently, allowing for extravagant light projections as seen in modern high-end Audis, as well as other cars. In the Renault 5 Prototype, the matrix LED lights are used to recreate the famous ‘wink’ as seen in the classic advertisement.Jardin describes the original Renault 5 as a car that is full of life and lifelike, and so a dynamic element was needed to breathe life into the concept of the car. Perhaps similar to Herby or Brum, this little prototype needed to feel alive.Other than the fancy lights, notable features of the design include the lack of a b pillar, some interesting lighting going on with the seats’ headrests and also a very intriguing guage cluster behind the windscreen. We look forward to more details on that!Jardin explained: “To be a worthy heir to the R5, the car had to become expressive and lively. We have succeeded with the prototype, a true object of modern design, embodying the Renault ‘joie de vivre’.”A new production Renault 5 is set to be launched in the future at around £18,000-£26,500. Not only will its purpose be to bring back a famous and stylish iconic hatchback but also, according to boss Luca De Meo, to ‘democratise electric technology in Europe’ with an affordable price point.Let us know what you think of the Renault 5 Prototype, in the comments!If you enjoyed this, you may also like: ‘Rolls-Royce ‘Silent Shadow’ Rumours’"},{"@context":"https://schema.org/","@type":"BreadcrumbList
@type":"ListItem
{"@type":"ListItem
