There was something for everyone this weekend at the Race Retro International Historic Motorsport Show. Descending over Stoneleigh Park in Coventry, stunning displays of the legendary cars from Team Lotus were available, while tribute was paid to the rallying career of Renault Alpine.
Motorsport legend Sir Stirling Moss and iconic commentator Murray Walker were amongst the high attractions of the weekend, which also saw high speed go karting action and Group B Rally car stunts from the Live Rally Stage.
The ‘Arrive and Drive’ circuit gave visitors the opportunity to test their driving skills in a pre-prepared rally race car, offering the chance to grip the steering wheel like a professional!
Many also enjoyed the Retro Café Racer Concours show where the public were invited to enter their own vehicles in the display for all to see, whilst hundreds of trade stands where in force for everything you could have needed.
Fantastic prizes and competitions along with free parking added to the brilliant buzz of the whole weekend and topping the event off was the Race Retro Auction which saw many British classics steal the show. Highlights include a 1967 Aston Martin DB6 which sold for over £123,000 as well as a Land Rover 80” series 1 which ended with a price tag of little over £32,000.
The Race Retro crowd proved their passion and knowledge and a fantastic weekend was had by all.
