Vauxhall is set to reveal their latest concept car at the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show. The overall look of the car is inspired by the 1966 Vauxhall XVR and the 1965 Opel Experimental GT, but with a focus on the future look of sports cars.
One of the major differences is the concept GT offers a front 1-litre turbocharged engine, with rear wheel drive.
Weighing a total of 1000 kgs, the GT Concept is capable of 0 to 62 mph in less than eight seconds and could reach a top speed of 134 mph.
Another highlight of the new design is its unique headlamp/indicator units, with special LED technology to reduce glares caused by high-beam driving.
“We created the GT Concept to capture the bold, emotional spirit of both the Vauxhall and Opel brands,” explained Mark Adams, vice president of Vauxhall design in Europe.
He added: “It is dramatic, sculptural and full of innovations, which is our great tradition that we intend to continue…This coupe impressively demonstrates the continuous development of our design philosophy.”
Further details of the car, which bears some resemblance to the BMW Z series, will be announced on March 3rd when the Geneva Motor Show opens.
