This month (on 22nd April) the one-millionth Mazda MX-5 came off the assembly line in Hiroshima and now it will be making its way to the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed. It’ll be one of the stops for the model as it takes a journey around the whole world, showing itself off to the masses.

The landmark MX-5 will be joined at Goodwood by the Speedster and Spyder MX-5 concept cars, we hope you’re as excited as we are.

Not only is this the one millionth car, but it also marks 27 years of Mazda manufacturing this roadster. It’s a firm favourite with automotive fans all over the world and it actually holds the Guinness World Record for being the best-selling two-seater sportscar.

As such, the car is now in its fourth generation and Masamichi Kogai, Mazda Motor Corporation representative direct, president and chief executive officer, said that the MX-5 “has become a symbol of our brand”. The MX-5 has already impressed sportscar fans at the 2015 SEMA Tuning Show in Las Vegas, so anticipation is high for this year’s festival at Goodwood.

Interestingly, when the other MX-5 concepts head to Sussex, this is actually going to be the first time that they will have been seen by an audience outside of North America. The Speedster and the Spyder build upon the foundation of the MX-5 and place most of their emphasis on open air driving and minimalist design. Both are inspired by vintage roadsters and they each offer a unique take on the MX-5, but which one is going to be your favourite?

The Speedster is incredibly light at just 943 kg thanks to its carbon fibre doors and seats, and it looks great with custom 16-inch RAYS alloy wheels. As for the Spyder? It has an inspired Mercury Silver paintjob and full-grain leather interior, which makes it perfect for long road trips. In addition to appearing at the show, the World Car of the Year award-winning Mazda MX-5 will be taking part in the legendary Goodwood hillclimb – keep your eyes fixed on Thursday 23rd June for this event.

Definitely exciting news! This can be considered kind of a jubilee Mazda car and there is something special about this kind of car editions. It is definitely a great Mazda two-seater with a cool design and we can see why it is listed as a bestseller. We can see the tendency of Mazda trying to present its models better on the European market.
