Lexus has got a treat for visitors to the North American International Auto Show as it is set to unveil a new high performance saloon, the GS F.
The GS F is the latest addition to the F line from Lexus and it joins the recently launched RC F coupe. This new four-door model promises customers the speed and agility of a premium sports car.
This car utilises the same platform as the Lexus GS but it has had a number of enhancements, including to those of the powertrain.
It is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine that can produce 467 bhp at 7,100 rpm and its peak torque is 527 Nm between 4,800 and 5,600 rpm.
This unit can operate in both Otto and Atkinson combustion cycles so that power or efficiency can be optimised depending on the conditions that the driver puts the car through.
Its transmission is provided through an eight-speed automatic gearbox with a manual shift function.
The Torque Vectoring Differential that made its debut in the Lexus RC F is set to be part of the standard specification of the GS F, which will be a defining feature of its handling quality. There are three different modes available: Standard allows for balanced agility and firmness, Slalom ensures fast steering response and agility and Track allows for stability when in high-speed circuit driving.
This car’s monocoque chassis comes with a number of structural reinforcements as well as an exclusive suspension package that is designed to improve the car’s handling capabilities and ride quality.
Lexus promises that drivers on the open road will experience stable, smooth performance, as well as rewarding handling when tackling challenging routes or circuit driving.
The GS F has a kerb weight of only 1,830 kg, which makes it the lightest model in its class.
Lexus’ new GS F will be rolling into the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 13th.
