The new offering from Tesla, the Model 3 is eagerly anticipated as an affordable electric car that will appeal to the mass market. It declares that it can manage 215 miles of range and has a starting starting price of $35,000 (£24,396), according to Tesla’s homepage. The Model 3 is a combination of performance, safety, efficiency and spaciousness, which easily helps to sell the aim of its mass market appeal.
Calling it the brand’s most affordable car yet, Tesla is also proud to say that it has a five-star safety rating, which is the highest of any other car in its category. There are also autopilot safety features, helping to ensure a secure drive, whatever the driving conditions.
The luxury electric model isn’t just safe and efficient, as it does a 0-60mph sprint in less than six seconds. If you’re going to be going on a long journey, you’re in luck because the Tesla Model 3 also has a supercharging feature to take you where you need to go.
So far, Tesla’s offerings to the electric market have been very well received, as its Model S Saloon overtook sales of the popular Nissan Leaf, reports the BBC. As a result, the model became the world’s best-selling all-electric vehicle.
The Model 3 also delivers on appearance, looking sleek and perfectly complementing the car’s powerful performance. Elon Musk, CEO of the company, believes that the Tesla Model 3 is the motor that will not only bring electric vehicles into the mainstream limelight, but will also see fast innovations on the technology that creates and defines this section of the automotive industry.
He could be right as The Guardian has reported that the Model 3 is already changing the industry by seeing competitors hasten the development of their own electric cars, including improving the battery range. Prototypes that Elon unveiled at the Tesla design studio in California were met with a lot of enthusiasm from the 800-strong crowd that was in attendance. The Tesla Model 3 isn’t set for delivery until next year, but those interested can place their orders now and thanks to the hype and the price, demand is already soaring.
