Own a Corsa-e Rally For Just £46,000

You could own your very own Corsa-e Rally car for just £46,000!

We all know that electric cars are well known for their acceleration and instant torque, so you can imagine just how crazy an electric rally car could be. Opel, Vauxhall’s sister brand, is now the first car manufacturer to offer an electric rally car and boy does it look cool.

The Corsa-e Rally will make its debut at the IAA Frankfurt International Motor Show on 12th to 22nd September 2019 and will also be competing in the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup. The car itself is based on the new Corsa-e which is currently available to order from £26,490 and deliveries are expected in April of next year.

However, although the Corsa-e Rally looks radically different from the standard Corsa-e, thanks to the brightly-coloured race livery, the car itself doesn’t seem to be too different from what we’ve learned so far. The Corsa-e Rally produces 134hp and 260 Nm of torque, whereas the road-going Corsa-e produces 134bhp and 260 Nm of torque.

As you can tell, the two cars are tuned to the same spec in terms of power and torque, which is a little underwhelming, to say the least. The Corsa-e Rally does, however, have some differences when it comes to suspension. Race-spec suspension has been fitted to the car, as well as a slightly wider body. The wheelbase is said to be a whopping 2mm longer and the body is also a little wider and higher than the standard production car.

Aside from these minute changes, the rally version of the new Corsa-e will also feature lightweight alloy wheels, an integrated roll cage (obviously) and a lightweight body. Further necessary rally modifications have also been made, such as underbody protection for engine and transmission, a fitted electric fire extinguisher and a dry battery. So it seems at the moment, the main modification to the Corsa-e Rally is the special race livery and it’s got to be said, it looks absolutely phenomenal. Neon yellow badging, tyre print, centre caps, brake callipers and plenty of it on the body of the car as well. Satin grey mixed with the neon yellow makes for a very good look on this all-electric rally car and we’re just glad that we can’t see any of that hideous EV-blue colour that is found on the vast majority of production electric cars.

The Corsa-e Rally will be available in two specifications, the details for which have not been released as of yet. However, we do know that both specs will include a 7-inch touch screen, 11kWh on-board charger, sat-nav, LED headlights, lighter alloy wheels, rear parking sensors and DAB radio as standard.

So, is £46,000 cheap for a rally car? Yes. Is it cheap for this rally car? No.
