The Range Rover Evoque is the most successful model in Jaguar Land Rover’s history. This luxury compact SUV that has only been on sale for six years has proved to be more popular than the Range Rover Sport, the much-missed Defender, the XF, the F-Type, or any other car you care to mention that has borne the Jaguar or Land Rover name.

More than 600,000 Evoques have been built in the UK since it first launched in 2011, with 80 per cent of those shipped to 130 markets around the world.

Aside from selling big, the Evoque wins big too, picking up in excess of 200 awards including the prestigious ‘Car of the Year’ gong from Auto Express and Top Gear. The notoriously scathing Jeremy Clarkson even picked it out as his favourite car of 2011, too.

So in light of such success, Land Rover has thrown together the Landmark special edition to celebrate six years of the Evoque.

The Evoque Landmark uses the 180H TD4 diesel model as a base, before chucking in gloss dark grey 19-inch alloy wheels, a ‘Carpathian grey’ contrast roof, dynamic bodystyling, keyless entry, a powered tailgate, fixed panoramic roof and graphite atlas grille, fog lamp bezels and bonnet louvres.

Buyers will be able to choose from three exterior colours: Yulong white, Corris grey and the vibrant ‘moraine blue’ seen in these pictures, which was apparently inspired by the turquoise lakes of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Prices start from £39,000 for the manual, rising to £40,840 for the automatic.

However, you could end up paying plenty more by opting to include the ten-inch InControl Touch Pro system, which features apps such as Spotify and a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, or the Touch Pro Services package, which provides real-time traffic mapping, satellite and street-level views and an apps sidebar with weather, news headlines and a flight tracker.

‘Indisputable success’

Jeremy Hicks, managing director of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) UK, said: “The Evoque has been an indisputable success. It’s our biggest selling model in the UK and continues to thrive six years after launch – it’s a fantastic achievement and worthy of celebration.

“The Landmark edition has new dynamic detailing and a distinctive aesthetic which takes its design credentials to an even higher level – it looks fantastic and we know customers will love it.”

In the same six years that the Evoque has been around, JLR has doubled sales and employment, more than tripled turnover and invested more than £15 billion in new product creation and capital expenditure.

July will mark the arrival of the new mid-size Range Rover Velar, filling the gap between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport, so expect the good news stories to continue rolling out from JLR.
