Amazon have officially announced the name of the new Clarkson, Hammond and May show; ‘The Grand Tour’. Here at Motor Vision, we thought we would take a look at the upcoming series and compare it to its obvious rival, ‘Top Gear’.

The Grand Tour

Let’s start with the most talked about thing… The choice of title. There have been ideas flying around for months over the web from ‘Gear Knobs’ to simply ‘Hammond, May and Clarkson’.

A couple of weeks ago, the official title was announced, the series would be known as The Grand Tour. Although the initial photos look good, this is an extremely bland title from the usually controversial three. Jeremy Clarkson came out and defended the name choice simply stating; “We’ll be travelling the world hosting each episode in a different country. It’s sort of a ‘grand tour’, if you like. So we’ve decided to call it ‘The Grand Tour’.”

Amazon Prime TV Shows

Every episode of The Grand Tour is said to be hosted in a different country which sounds interesting and definitely should offer some variety. Filming has been spotted in several locations so far, Devon and Somerset being the most recent. Other locations include; France, Germany, Barbados and the Middle East. Amazon customers across the globe will get the chance to be in the audience with a series of prize draws coming this summer.

It’s clear to see, from the photos, that the guys will be up to their usual antics… Putting beautiful and not-so beautiful cars to their limits in a variety of locations. Unfortunately there has not been any footage released for us to get our teeth stuck into!

Clarkson, Hammond, May

The first series will start exclusively on Amazon Prime in Autumn this year and consist of 12 episodes, which will be followed by a further 24 over the next two years. The new series of Top Gear is set to premiere on 29th May, and it’s safe to say that we will definitely have a review coming up. Stay tuned…
