As we mentioned in yesterday’s post, the latest Honda Civic will be launched at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show.

Now on its tenth generation since the first car rolled off the production line in 1972, the Honda Civic has been revamped to appeal to European motorists.

Built using a new platform, the all-new suspension system could offer great handling and a fun ride. In addition, the overall weight of the car has been reduced with a lighter shell and it is now 20mm lower.

Two engines are expected to be available, interestingly both will be petrol as Honda will not offer a diesel version – although this could change in the future.

The base block will be a 1-litre, three-cylinder unit producing a strong 127bhp at 5500 rpm, while the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged VTEC unit will offer 180bhp.

Honda’s latest Civic has also undergone a makeover inside, with more overall interior space and it would appear the new rear suspension setup has had little impact on total boot space, with just a small drop in the trunk capacity.

Gadget fans will enjoy the seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which can be controlled via a thumbpad on the steering wheel. There is also full integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, something that is becoming standard on all new cars these days.

Drivers will benefit from daytime running LED lights, while the high-spec ranges will have full LED headlights fitted.

Cars across all of Honda’s ranges will come with its SENSING suite of safety and driver assist technologies, which make use of various sensors to warn motorists of possible risks and potential hazards.

Details of pricing of the new Civic have yet to be revealed, but it is expected the car will be available from early 2017.

Fans of the Honda Civic Type R will be pleased to note the model will continue to be produced and a new concept version is set to be revealed at the Paris Motor Show.
