If you remember back in June, Grove & Dean Motorsport where happy to announce that they were sponsors for Team BRIT, check out the original post to find about more about Team BRIT.

Team BRIT

The guys over at Team BRIT recently announced their latest livery on their Facebook page, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to talk about the car!

The car in question, as you can see, is a Volkswagen Golf (MK6) that currently has a 2.0L TFSI (turbo-engine) which is producing around 250bhp.

Team BRIT

The shell has been built by KPM Racing and the car its self has been equipped with a Volkswagen Racing wide-body kit. The kit consists of a lightweight bonnet, an extended front bumper and vented wider wings for the front. The rear has been treated to extensions of the rear arches and an adjustable rear wing!

The performance of the car has also been improved by adding a new KO3 Turbo, a larger turbo pulls in more air and more air requires more fuel! To deal with the added volume of fuel needed an APR high pressure fuel pump has been added alongside a VWR intake. In modern car it’s not as simple as adding components and off you go, adding or removing the stock components upsets the cars ECU and to alter this a remap is always required. Shark Performance done a cracking job extracting as much power as possible, ensuring the car meets championship specification.

Team BRIT

Transmission has also been improved with the addition of a new DSG gearbox and Drexler differential. The flywheel has been converted to single-mass with a new Sash clutch. A CAE raise gear shifter has also been included to keep up with the abuse the gearbox will be receiving.

Team BRIT

Keeping the car to the tarmac are a set of 18” x 9J VWR Lightweight race wheels of which the team has two sets. The car has also been equipped with VWR engine mounts, poly-bushes throughout, VWR three-way adjustable anti-roll bars front and rear and camber adjustable top mounts with lightweight front suspension arms.

The drivers are:

  • Martyn Compton
  • Mark Allen
  • Gemma Trotter
  • Cameron McDonnell

As Grove & Dean Motorsport Insurance are partnered with Team BRIT I hope I can get out on track to see the team perform and be able to give everyone a first-hand account of the car!

    Hello Karl Schofield
Looks like this Volkswagen Golf, is beastly been upgraded.
Seems it could be competiting other cars, above its power range easily.

If I had a chance, would surely wanna try my hand on its power.
WOW! imagination of it in my mind gives me goosebumps.

Thank you for bringing this one for us 🙂

    Have a great week ahead.
