Taking place in January, the famous race takes drivers across Argentina and Bolivia in some of the toughest racing conditions imaginable.

The Peugeot team will be led by drivers Sébastien Loeb, Stéphane Peterhansel, Cyril Despres and Carlos Sainz, who will be hoping the improved Peugeot 2009 DKR will prove a winner over the two-week challenge.

Designers have revamped the car with a complete new livery, as well as making it lower and faster. The makeover involves moving the spare wheels to the side of the car, which changes the centre of gravity on the vehicle and should improve handling.

Peugeot Sport director Bruno Famin said: “If the car goes as well as it looks, then we are certainly set for a strong year next year! In its definitive livery, the new Peugeot 2008 DKR16 looks like it’s going really fast even when it’s standing still.

“We know that our cars will definitely have a strong visual presence on the Dakar: now it’s down to us as a team to make the most of that.”

The 38th Dakar Rally starts on 2nd January in Buenos Aires, Argentina and competitors will race around 10,000 km before it ends on January 16th.
