We saw this beast online last week and had to do an article on it.
This completely savage looking thing is known as the GT-R GT500, Nissan’s motorsport division Nismo’s entrant into the Japanese Super GT series for 2017. The cars involved in the Japanese GT series are known for their outrageous body and the GT-R is no different, just look at those wheel archers.
Along with those wheel archers, there is that huge rear wing, a front bumper that looks like it wants to eat you and aggressive front hood vents all work together to increase the aerodynamics of the car, as well as giving it a super villain look.
The new GT-R might have significantly less downforce than the previous model (25% to be precise) due to regulation changes to the Japanese Super GT series for the 2017 season. However the new model will be more powerful than it’s predecessor, but exactly by how much remains to be seen.
Nissan will be hoping the updated GT-R can claim back the GT500 title from Lexus, after back to back wins in 2014 and 2015.
