Since first taking place in the WRC in 2013, it has been tough for the leading carmaker to establish itself but it is hoped the latest model could compete with the more experienced teams.

The New Generation i20 WRC has been put through its paces in a year of testing and development and the car will make its racing debut in the Rallye Monte-Carlo 2016.

“We have come a long way since our inaugural foundation year, and our performance in last season’s Championship gave us renewed optimism for the future.”

Driver Sordo added that the new car will be better and faster, with a lot of time having been spent on developing a more competitive engine and chassis.
