The new RXC Turbo 500R is the latest model from the British manufacturer Radical. Based on the company’s first closed-cockpit coupe, this track machine has made a splash at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
Powering the model is a Ford EcoBoost V6 engine that sits nicely inside its steel spaceframe and carbon-fibre bodywork.
The unit delivers an output of 600bhp and boasts 631Nm of torque, which is available at low revs all the way through to the top end of the spectrum. These figures see the new Radical delivering a performance that can rival that of a hypercar, but it has much friendlier purchase and operation costs than some of its competitors.
With regards to the EcoBoost function on the car, the powertrain features forged pistons, hand-finished gas flowed cylinder heads and revisions to the engine management system to see the model’s power delivered in a brutal manner.
There are lots of new features on the model, including a new Bosch Motorsport ABS braking system. Partnering this with the RXC’s mechanical grip and advanced LMP aerodynamics, these see the new model perform as Radical’s fastest-ever coupe. The RXC Turbo 500R also has an appearance to set it apart from Radical’s other models, thanks to Milan-based automotive styling house, Aznom Automotive.
Some of these unique features include carbon fibre-framed, Technogel racing seats with adjustable inserts. What’s more, is that the seats are available in different thicknesses and adjust to the owner due to a gel that was originally developed for medical purposes.
Other interior luxuries include a multi-function fully adjustable steering wheel, heated front screen and an adjustable pedal box. For electronics, the model gets an AIM MXS multifunction LCD dash with digital rev counter and display integral datalogger, as well as a multi-point adjustable traction control system.
The RXC Turbo 500R is only available on a limited run of 21 units, but orders are now being taken through Radical’s network of dealers and price is on request.
