Caterham has been making significant strides in the motoring world over the past 12 months.
Not only has the manufacturer cemented its place in Formula 1, it has been pushing out a number of products and concept designs that signal the future of the brand.
Now the firm has revealed what it will be putting on display at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham from January 9th-12th.
Caterham intends to reveal some of its most impressive and exciting models at the event, with the centrepiece coming in the form of the AeroSeven concept car.
Unveiled earlier this year, the vehicle is a rather unique take on the road car and is intended to deliver quality engineering and speed to the roads.
The sportscar is interesting in its design, with very limited height, accentuated by the lack of shaped driver’s cockpit.
In fact, the roofless car is almost flat, if you ignore the protruding driver and passenger seats located towards the rear wheels.
It has been delivered in a bright green paint job and features a number of racing car-inspired features, such as aerodynamic styling, exclusive steering wheel and driver-focussed functionality.
Although motoring enthusiasts won’t be able to tell in its stationary position at the show, the car can go from 0-62.5 mph in just four seconds. Even though the design is likely to divide opinion, everyone can agree that the acceleration is impressive.
According to the manufacturer, the car heralds the start of the company’s expansion into the sportscar market, as it is looking to meet the needs of potential customers.
For slightly less adventurous customers, or those with a smaller budget, the more accessible Caterham Seven 160 will be on show, exhibiting the kit car’s potential in all its glory.
The entry level sportscar will be available in both kit and fully constructed form and is set to offer drivers pure motoring fun.
Containing a 660cc Suzuki-powered engine, the car can deliver 60mph in just 6.5 seconds, while a top speed of 100mph can be achieved with the pedal to the metal.
Caterham has said the car delivers handling finesse and bags of charm and will “redefine” the budget car segment.
Chief executive of Caterham Graham Macdonald said: “The 160 offers something truly different to the entry-level market. It’s more economical, more accessible and every bit as fun on the road as other Sevens but has its own unique personality.”
Headlining the event though, is surely the brand’s F1 car the CT03. The car will sit alongside the SP/300.R, the manufacturer’s racing and trackday machine, as well as the Superlight R300 championship racing car and the Seven 485 SV.
For the younger fans, the brand is also set to exhibit the new Caterham Kart, which will be the latest model to feature in future karting championships events.
It seems that Caterham will bring an excellent selection of models to the event and it’s surely not one to be missed.
