It is only the second race that the model has taken part in as well as its new team, M-Sport Bentley, which has seen Guy Smith, Andy Meyrick and Steven Kane getting behind the wheel of the #7 car.

The race did not start out too well as Smith had to take a drive through penalty, which left the car in seventh position. However, the team was able to regain its standing after some fantastic driving and well-planned pit stops.

In the last 15 minutes of the race, Kane managed to get back into the lead and was able to keep a two second gap ahead of his closest competitor, the #99 McLaren that was driven by Andy Soucek.

Certainly, the race was not going to be the easiest as poor weather would have hampered the grip and traction of most cars. However, Kane noted how the car was able to take good care of its tyres, which meant that he was able to maintain the traction that he needed to go on and win the race.

Bentley’s member of the board for engineering, Rolf French, said: “We knew our Continental GT3 was a potential race winner, but to finish first in only the car’s second race in the series feels very special. Bentley has a history of winning, and today we’ve written the start of the next chapter in our long history.”

Director of motorsport at Bentley, Brian Gush, praised the team for their driving skills, for the speed at which the pit stop crew got their work done and also for the strength of the car. Mr Gush noted how one of its greatest abilities is the speed at which it can take on corners and he hopes that this will lead to great success in the other upcoming rounds.
