The unit features a twin-scroll turbocharger and variable valve control, helping it develop 302bhp and up to 400Nm of torque. It comes linked as standard to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and boasts 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. With launch control function enabled, the A 35 can polish off a 0-62mph sprint in 4.7 seconds and will continue to pick up speed until it hits 155mph.The car can be switched to one of five driving modes: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual. These enable a wide range of vehicle characteristics from comfortable to dynamic and change relevant parameters, such as the response of the engine and transmission. The ExteriorStylistically, you’ll be able to spot the A35 due to its fixed rear wing, 18-inch alloy wheels, sports exhaust, slightly widened arches and new front and rear bumpers with large air inlets and black winglets. The InteriorThe interior of the A35 does not completely strive away from the standard A-Class. That said, the A35’s interior still manages to pull off a sporty feel due to the custom trim and bucket seats.Merc’s reasoning behind the creation of the A35Tobias Moers, chief executive of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, labelled the car as “a true AMG for the Hot Hatch stage”.He explained how demand for compact Mercs has developed very dynamically since the introduction of the A45 in 2012.“This success has encouraged us to further expand our portfolio and place it on a broader footing,” Mr Moers added. “With the new A 35, we are fulfilling our brand promise of driving performance in every detail and offering thrilling lateral dynamics at the level of today’s A 45.”Would you go for the A 35 over a Golf R or Audi S3?
