The Honda TT Legends team is set to head to its namesake event the Isle of Man TT race this week, with motorcycle enthusiasts heading along to the iconic event in for a treat as a result.

This year's TT race will see the return of 17-times winner John McGuinness – nicknamed the Morecambe Missile – racing with Honda, while 2011 fastest newcomer Simon Andrews is set to be his teammate.

Having performed well at the recent North West 200 event, the pair appear to be in good form for what is arguably one of the biggest races on the calendar.

Honda TT Legends team manager Neil Tuxworth commented: "We've just come away from a very successful North West 200, where John and Simon did extremely well and this is always a good indication of the performance we can expect at the TT.

"They are both riding with confidence and I am certain that they are capable of achieving good results in the Superbike category."

Race week gets underway on June 2nd, with qualifiers for all events taking to the starting line and looking to post their best time around the 37-mile island circuit.

Practice sessions for the demanding race got underway on Monday (May 28th).

Earlier this year, the Honda team completed preparations for the FIM Endurance World Championships by putting its tyre options through their paces at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.

The team's riders covered more than 2,000 km on the circuit as they looked to get the best out of their Dunlop tyres for the upcoming season.

Mr Tuxworth noted at the time that the efforts put in on the track, not just by the riders but by the whole Honda team, were likely to pay dividends during the course of the year and his prediction now appears to be coming true.
