MotoFest Coventry are hailing this year’s festival as the biggest and best ever after record-breaking crowds poured into the city to enjoy the first ever competitive motorsports staged at the event.
In a fantastic endorsement of the increasing popularity of the event, visitor numbers topped last year’s high of 130,000 as tens of thousands of visitors flocked into the city to watch the first competitive motorsports held on a city centre circuit in almost 30 years.
James Noble Festival Director, said: “The Power Maxed MotoFest Coventry 2018 was a record breaker, with our biggest ever number of visitors attending the event.
The supercars were also out in force at Power Maxed MotoFest Coventry as the Supercar Driver club (SCD) – the UK’s leading club for supercar drivers – made a crowd-pleasing first ever appearance at Power Maxed MotoFest Coventry.
Around 50 or so members cars including Lamborghinis, Bugattis, Ferraris and McLarens took to the circuit before going on display in a dedicated super car paddock area situated close to Coventry Cathedral in the city centre.
For two-wheeled fans one of the highlights was a ride-out from historic Coombe Abbey Hotel to the Toyo Tires sprint circuit on Saturday morning, with around 250 bikes creating one of the spectacles of the weekend as they officially opened the show with a parade lap.
Further two-wheeled highlights included a new dedicated bike village with the Get On ride and try experience, Wall of Death, DynABike and displays from classic bike clubs, a street food village and regular food and drink retailers.
For classic car fans this year’s event featured a ‘show within a show’ as thanks to a five year deal with the Coventry Business Improvement District (BID), around 1,000 classic vehicles were displayed, the largest amount ever seen at the event.
Power Maxed MotoFest Coventry is a two-day festival dedicated to the city’s motoring heritage, taking place in the first weekend of June each year.
It features a range of automotive activities taking place from pop-up and demonstration runs to static displays and fringe events with Power Maxed MotoFest Coventry, now the largest free urban motorsport festival in the UK.
