Morgan Motor Company have finally unveiled their new limited edition LE60 Plus Six and 3 Wheeler models…

Louwman Exclusive is a dealership based in Utrecht in the Netherlands; the prestigious dealership is currently celebrating a 60-year alliance with British sports car maker, Morgan. In reciprocal celebration, Morgan has created 5 beautiful limited edition LE60 sports cars for Louwman.

It was a year ago when Morgan revealed the Morgan Plus Six; an aluminium bodied roadster powered by a BMW 3-litre straight six turbocharged engine. The CX-Generation architecture that the Plus Six sits on has been around for a couple of years now and is, Morgan says, twice the rigidity of the company’s previous steel platform, which had its origins as far back as 1936.

With a total weight coming in at just over 1 tonne, the Plus Six is capable of a 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds, with 335bhp and 369 lb ft of torque. Morgan is bold enough to say that this is the most ‘dynamically capable’ Morgan sports car that the manufacturer has ever made. Top speed is 166mph, and fuel economy is a fairly reasonable 38.2mpg (combined). The Morgan Plus Six replaced the outgoing V8-powered Morgan Plus 8.

As you might expect, Morgan has added some subtle detailing to these LE60 models. Two arrive resplendent in Ice Blue paintwork, while the other two feature Scintilla Silver paintwork. All of the LE 60 Louwman cars feature additional contrast yellow details, from brake calipers to spotlight casings to ’60 Years’ embroidery on the exclusive leather seats. Bespoke 19-inch wire-inspired wheels add the finishing touch to the exterior of the Ice Blue models and a matte tawny wood dashboard adds the finishing touch to the interior.

The Scintilla Silver models get possibly less flamboyant 18-inch alloys and feature a yellow number 6 paint-embedded into the grille. While they lose the wooden dash for a colour-coded affair, they gain a bold yellow stripe across the bonnet from side to side, maybe a hint towards the old leather bonnet strap of yore perhaps? The black alloy wheels on all four models manage to give each vehicle a more up-to-date feel compared to a more traditional silver polished wheel set. Though on wheels alone, I much prefer the modern take on the wire wheel.

So this adds up to four models not five, right? Yes indeed, there is one more LE60 Morgan sports car to reveal, and the final model is a bit of a beauty. Subtle yellow details are present of course, and the car is painted in a fine-looking Almond Green colour, but the car itself is a lightweight 2-litre Morgan 3 Wheeler, revealing it’s polished engine up front. Morgan aptly describes this striking sports car: ‘no frills all thrills’ motoring – and with that open-plan engine I’d say it’s also purely for very fine weather motoring. With an ash wood frame and aluminium bodywork, the 3 Wheeler is a lightweight (just over 500kg) delight and will reach 62mph in 6 seconds – though I’m sure it will feel much quicker than that.
