MG’s first fully electric car, the ZS EV, was shown off to the UK and European public for the first time at the London Motor Show back in May.
First unveiled in March, the family-friendly vehicle received 800 expressions of interest from buyers in just two months, representing the most successful pre-launch in the company’s history.
Featuring a full-sized boot and enough room to seat five people, the car is being touted by MG as the perfect solution for motorists who want a spacious and practical compact SUV with the environmental friendliness of an electric vehicle.
The original ZS debuted in the UK back in November 2017. Since then, it has become a regular sight on UK roads, with the 5,000th British ZS sold to a customer in Neyland, Wales just over a year after its initial introduction.
A limited edition version of the petrol model was announced by MG in April. Limited to 400 units, it boasts an array of aesthetic upgrades over the vanilla model, including a high-gloss black grille, red trim highlights on the front and rear bumpers, and 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
The electric ZS is due to join the MG line-up this September, with full specifications and pricing details to be released closer to the launch date.
Daniel Gregorious, head of sales and marketing at MG Motor UK, said: “The arrival of the ZS EV represents the start of MG’s long-term brand and product expansion plan, and we are delighted to be able to share it with the British public for the first time.
“The arrival of the ZS EV adds a new dimension to the car market by offering high-tech zero-emissions transport to a broader cross-section of buyers.”
