McLaren is one of the biggest names in sports car manufacturing and the brand continues to attract considerable acclaim and popularity among the motoring public.
Indeed, new figures published by McLaren Automotive have shown the marque continues to go from strength to strength, with 2018 another bumper year for sales by a company that prides itself not just on automotive excellence but delivering an unrivalled motoring experience for drivers.
A record-breaking year for sales
The latest global sales figures for the company show a 43.9 per cent upturn in 2018 to 4,806 cars sold. It marks a continuation of record sales performance for the marque, dating back to 2010, with domestic sales up by 49.2 per cent year-on-year.
European sales rose by 44.2 per cent last year, but the largest increase was witnessed in China at an impressive 122.5 per cent. These substantial gains were buoyed by the release of the 570S Spider and 720S, with China now making up seven per cent of the company’s global sales.
“Record sales highlight what a momentous year 2018 was for McLaren Automotive when over 4,800 cars left our Production Centre,” commented chief executive officer Mike Flewitt.
“In 2018, we achieved our broadest product offering, launching differentiated, world-beating products, such as the 600LT and the first two cars under our Track25 business plan.”
Mr Flewitt went on to add that the company stands “well-placed in 2019”, with a global market spread and diverse product portfolio. He concluded that the ramping up to full capacity at McLaren’s new MCTC facility this year will further boost production in the months ahead.
