Now we maybe have the perfect version of that sports car, the convertible MC20. Not much has changed overall, but not much needed to really – but that roof is sure to become a big talking point.So essentially, what we have here is a very impressive and beautiful looking supercar with a V6 twin-turbocharged 3-litre Nettuno engine offering up 621bhp. The original carbon-fibre chassis MC20 will take you from 0-62mph in just under 3 seconds and has a top speed of more than 200mph. The new Cielo convertible weighs just 65kg more than the MC20 which tips the scales at 1,500kg. Maserati say that torsional rigidity is uncompromised, and the Cielo will give optimum performance, whether on the road or on the track.The retractable glass roof can move from closed to open in just 12 seconds and features the Cielo\u2019s retractable electrochromic glass panel that can change from clear to opaque with the press of one button on the central screen. Maserati gave the MC20 Cielo full 360-degree wind tunnel testing with the roof both open and closed, refining the aerodynamics to make sure the Cielo performed as it we would all expect it to.The Cielo retains the MC20 butterfly doors despite having a retractable roof, which, Maserati says, is for practical reason as much as anything, allowing far easier access to and from the cabin. The colour for the release car is a 3-layer metallic, which Maserati call Acquamarina. The colour is designed to interact with the light – the pastel grey racing base colour is topped with an iridescent aquamarine mica to add some excitement and shimmer. Acquamarina will be available as part of Maserati\u2019s Fuoriserie customisation programme.From a practical perspective, we get parking sensors, a rear-view camera, blind spot monitoring, plus autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign info and a 360-degree camera. And of course, the stereo is of the sort of high quality you would expect such a supercar to have, with the option of a 12-speaker Italian Sonos faber audio system specially set-up to sound acoustically great in the unique shape that such a supercar cabin offers. All this is managed by the Maserati Intelligent Assistant Multimedia system.The standard (if you can ever call it that) Maserati MC20 costs in the region of \u00a3190,000, so expect to pay a bit more than that if you prefer the MC20 Cielo convertible.
