Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing has been getting behind the wheel of a Hyundai i10 as he takes his final driving lessons before his practical test.
The 25-year-old businessman has been calling in on friends and family as he drives around the streets of Chelsea, trying to fit in extra bits of tuition ahead of his test.
Plenty of footage from Jamie’s driving tuition has been made available online through Hyundai UK’s YouTube channel.
The people that agreed to help Jamie out with his lessons were his mum Penny, his friend Francis Boulle and the chief executive officer and president of Hyundai Motor UK, Tony Whitehorn.
Throughout the video clips there are mishaps aplenty in terms of Jamie’s driving, the near argument he has with his mother and the way that he addresses his driving instructor in one scene.
In the first lesson, which Jamie has with his mother, he says of the whole ordeal: “It wasn’t so much of a driving lesson but more of an argument.” Indeed, Jamie and his mum have a screaming match around the streets of London, they drive through a “monsoon” and have a number of close calls with taxis. The end result is that Jamie’s mum says “we’re never doing this again!” Though she was impressed by his clutch control.
The second lesson sees Jamie driving with Mr Whitehorn and his lesson doesn’t start off in the best way. He nearly reverses into the camera. Nevertheless, Jamie carries on with his lesson in the countryside.
At one point, Jamie excitedly exclaims to Mr Whitehorn: “You’re the first person I’ve ever gone into fifth gear with!”
Mr Whitehorn puts his head in his hands as he gets a tour of what Jamie has learned so far. He says that he is quite impressed with Jamie’s turn in the road and then, at the end of the lesson, he thanks Jamie and gives this description: “That was different!”
Next in the series of driving lessons, Jamie is joined by his friend Francis, who is also an ex Made in Chelsea star himself. While he is supposed to be having a driving lesson, Jamie turns into a bit of a taxi driver as he goes to pick up Francis as well as his dry cleaning while he is en route.
Acting a bit of a clown, when Jamie’s driving instructor asks what the Made in Chelsea star needs to think about before his test, Jamie’s response is: “Are you flirting with me?”
As well as showing Jamie’s escapades as a learner driver, Hyundai is also trying to get viewers involved by joining in with the conversation on Twitter. They are encouraged to use the hashtag #spotjamie.
The star, who is largely recognised by his bleach blonde hair, joined the Made in Chelsea line up in season two and still regularly appears. Audiences followed his relationship with co-star Lucy Watson during the show but the pair eventually broke up and she has since dated his close friend Oliver Proudlock.
