The ongoing struggle for the most extreme SUV has gone to another level after the Lister Motor Company – Britain’s oldest surviving racing car company – revealed its intentions of launching the world’s fastest SUV.
Named the Lister LFP, this ridiculous off-roader is essentially a heavily modified Jaguar F-Pace, but the numbers promise something much more special. It will be able to produce around 670bhp to deliver an estimated 0-60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 200mph.
That’s a smidge quicker than the 3.6-second sprint promised by the Lamborghini Urus and almost a full second nippier than Bentley’s V12 Bentayga (4.4s). Aiding this serious performance is a very generous helping of carbon fibre modifications optimising weight reduction and road holding.
Cars of this kind don’t come cheap and prices are set to begin at around £140,000. If you really can’t wait to open your cheque book, Lister is accepting orders right now.
‘Huge excitement’
Lawrence Whittaker, chief executive of the Lister Motor Company, said the LFT-666 supercar revealed earlier this year sparked a “huge level of interest, excitement and orders” and expects more of the same with this new SUV.
“Based on early indications, our new LFP promises to repeat the success of the LFT-666, and I really can’t wait to reveal the world’s fastest SUV quite soon,” he commented. “The imminent release of our new monster killer LFP promises to see this healthy situation continue for the remainder of this year, and beyond.”
And that’s pretty much it for details on what promises to be the world’s fastest SUV, but it won’t be long before we have more details for you.
