Lamborghini’s 759bhp Aventador SVJ gets European debut at Salon Privé

Lamborghini’s outrageous Aventador SVJ has been given its first European outing at the glamorous Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, following its recent global unveiling in the US.

The Aventador SVJ uses the most powerful, naturally-aspirated V12 engine that Lamborghini has ever produced. The super car cranks out 759bhp and 720Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm.

With a dry weight of just 1,525kg, it achieves a weight-to power ratio of 1.98 kg/hp to deliver some sensational performance figures.

From rest, it can get it up to 62mph from a standstill in a mere 2.8 seconds.

Give the SVJ 8.6 seconds and it’ll double that speed from rest and it’ll keep picking up speed until it hits at least 217mph. Top speed hasn’t been confirmed but Lambo says it can do ‘more than 350km/h’ (217mph). Production will be limited to just 900 units.

Fastest car around the Nurburgring

This SVJ’s reputation precedes it. The super car currently claims the record for being the fastest production car around the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Completing the 20.6 km lap in just 6:44.97 minutes.

‘Another step into the future’

At the car’s global unveiling at Pebble Beach last month, Lamborghini chief executive Stefano Domenicali said this SVJ “[shapes] the potential for super sports car development”.

He added: “The challenge to Lamborghini designers and engineers was to improve the purest essence of the Lamborghini super sports car, drawing on every inspiration from a spaceship to a jet fighter: all the most exceptional examples of super-fast, super-athletic, aerodynamic superiority.

“The Aventador SVJ takes another step into the future.”

The supercar features a patented active aerodynamics system and aero vectoring. Both of which have been enhanced for the SVJ. The chassis and powertrain have been redesigned too, resulting in improved stiffness, enhanced rear-wheel steering and significantly improved downforce.

‘Important and groundbreaking’

Salon Privé’s founding directors Andrew and David Bagley said they were “truly delighted” to host the European debut of the new SVJ.

“It is an honour for us to be involved in the debut of such an important, groundbreaking car and we know visitors to Salon Privé will appreciate the opportunity to see this new Lamborghini just as it has been unveiled.”
