Lamborghini is bidding farewell to its iconic, naturally aspirated V12 engines with the reveal of two one-of-a-kind supercars, the Invencible Coupé and Auténtica Roadster. This move comes ahead of the Italian marque’s first series-production hybrid sports car, which is expected to be revealed in the near future.
These radical designs are based on the current Lamborghini Aventador’s carbon fibre monocoque and feature the same rear-mounted 769 horsepower 6.5-litre V12 engine. Mated to a seven-speed ISR automatic gearbox, this powertrain delivers 531lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. Although no official figures have been released, it’s expected that the 0-62 mph time will be close to 2.8 seconds, with a top speed near 221 mph, similar to the Aventador.
Lamborghini’s Chairman, Stephan Winkelmann, stated, “The V12 engine is one of the pillars of our history and our marque’s success. As we embrace a new era of hybridization, this is our way of celebrating the naturally aspirated V12 with two one-of-a-kind vehicles that embody our concept of personalized excellence.”
Designed by Lamborghini’s Centro Stile for two lucky owners, these unique vehicles pay homage to the brand’s storied past with design elements drawn from special Lamborghinis such as the Reventón, Veneno, Essenza SCV12, and Sesto Elemento. Both cars feature carbon fibre exteriors and a stripped-out interior, focusing on pure driving enjoyment.
Lamborghini’s Design Boss, Mitja Borkert, added, “We’ve created two one-off cars with their own unique character, inspired by track days and the high-octane circuit environment. These designs draw on our unique design DNA and elevate our design heritage to a new level.”
Say goodbye to Lamborghini’s naturally aspirated V12 era in style with these two unforgettable, one-of-a-kind supercars.
