The 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition features the iconic Abarth stripes and a lower profile, as well as stylish 17-inch matt black alloys, tinted windows, a racing steering wheel and aluminium pedals.

Buyers can chose from a wide range of options including Xenon headlamps and a leather interior – all designed to enhance the compact hatch’s racing look.

Under the hood, the car boosts Abarth’s1.4-litre T-Jet engine, which is combined with a Record Monza exhaust system and Koni shock absorbers with FSD valves.

“The new 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition adds a new dimension to the Abarth 595 line-up”, explained Gerry Southerington, brand manager at Abarth UK.

He added: “With an upgrade to 160 horsepower, lowered suspension, sporting looks and a great sounding exhaust system, we expect a lot of interest in this car from Abarth enthusiasts and new customers alike.”

Prices for the Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition start at £17,420 for the entry-level model.

Yamaha has also confirmed details of a new concept car that will be unveiled at the forthcoming 44th Tokyo Motor Show. Details of the vehicle are being kept firmly under wraps, but it is expected to be inspired by Yamaha’s strong motorcycling tradition and could possibly be a mid-engined sports coupe.

More will be revealed when the Japanese show opens on October 29th!
