Seat’s top performance car has gained even more power following an impressive upgrade.
The new Leon Cupra 290 will be on display at the forthcoming Frankfurt Motor Show and is expected to be on sale in the UK before the end of the year.
Fitted with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the car will offer 286 bhp – making it on a par with the VW Golf R and ahead of the popular Ford Focus ST-2.
Seat claims the car will be capable of 62 mph in 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph and buyers can expect an mpg of around 41.1 using the six-speed manual gearbox.
There are a number of other improvements for the hatchback, including a retuned exhaust system, chromed trim elements and updates to the progressive steering.
Sport seats, 6.5 inch touchscreen infotainment and sat-nav system will come as standard on the Cupra 290, but there will also be a number of options and upgrades on offer for those who like to add a little something extra.
One of the highlights is the Seat’s Sub8 performance pack, which includes larger brakes, new tyres and a custom wheel design.
Final pricing has not yet been confirmed for the sporty model, but is expected to be higher than the current Cupra 280 price of £28,785.
