Ford has taken the wraps off a new version of the Fiesta ST, which promises a ten per cent power increase over the standard model. The Fiesta ST200 features a 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine that delivers 200PS (197 BHP) and 290Nm of torque, making it the most powerful production Fiesta ever.
It will hit 62mph from a standing start in 6.7 seconds, while top speed stands at 143mph. As well as improved power, the ST200 also features a tweaked gear train, which, Ford claims, brings “improved drivability and an even more fun to drive experience”.
Production begins in June and buyers will get numerous styling tweaks alongside the performance boost. The ST200 will be available in an exclusive colour – Storm Grey – and other external changes include the addition of red painted brake calipers. 17-inch alloy wheels are an option, while the interior features Recaro partial leather front seats, along with silver detailed seatbelts and illuminated scuff plates.
Vice-president of product development at Ford of Europe Joe Bakaj has high hopes for the “special” new model, describing it as “a future classic in the making”.
