The new Mini John Cooper Works Convertible has been teasingly revealed ahead of its official public unveiling at the New York Motor Show in March 2016. With the extra refinement we have come to expect from JCW, the 2.0 litre turbocharged convertible gets a 20bhp boost on the previous version as well as around 40bhp on the convertible Mini Cooper S.
It actually works out slightly slower at reaching 60mph compared to the JCW hatchback at 6.6 seconds; this is due to the extra weight increase for the strengthening built in to the chassis and bodywork to make up for the lack of a fixed roof. Though don’t let that dampen your enthusiasm, for the 228bhp hatch was the most powerful Mini yet, and the convertible shares the same 228bhp, as well as 236lb ft of torque. It’s also slightly faster than the outgoing model by around 0.3 seconds.
The John Cooper Works Convertible will get LED headlights, restyled cooling vents and sills, as well as the John Cooper Works only option of Rebel Green paint.
The convertible also gets all new centred exhaust pipes and 17-inch alloys as standard, with an 18-inch wheel option should you prefer.
The JCW convertible comes with a choice of either 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic – plump for the auto and you drop your 0-60 by half a second; top speed is 150mph. If fuel economy is a big selling point for you, then you might want to sacrifice that half a second in favour of the automatic, as the auto achieves 47.9mpg (combined) compared to the manual’s 43.5mpg. All in all though, fuel economy is improved all round.
You get some quite tasty extras and options as you might expect with JCW, like some very nice looking driver and front passenger seats with integrated headrests offering improved support, and a new 3-spoke steering wheel and gear lever, while the big seller is undoubtedly going to be the striking, yet subtle, ‘Mini Yours’ woven Union Jack soft-top roof.
Sales in the UK will coincide with the New York Motor Show and commence on 5th March, with a starting point of £26,630.

Truely a cutest thing to bring to your home with some power.
Seems like company had gone some better modification rather than its previous models.
