Details on the technology of the latest Mazda2 have been unveiled, as the release of the new supermini edges closer.
It promises to be the fourth Mazda car to use the KODO – Soul of Motion design theme and full SKYACTIV line-up of ultra-efficient lightweight technology.
Among the technology it includes are enhanced human-machine interface, active driving display with seven-inch display and a range of active safety systems.
It comes with MZD Connect, which is Mazda’s in-car connectivity system that is specially design to be safe and easy to use. This system is compatible with iPhone or Android smartphones and can allow the driver to access mobile content using the cloud platform-based service Aha.
The car has an i-stop idle-stop system that is fitted as standard but customers can also get the car with the i-ELOOP brake energy regeneration system.
All controls and data related to driving are set up so that the driver can react quickly with as little eye and limb movement as possible.
On the outside, the KODO design style is intended to make the car look agile, strong and full of energy.
It comes with Mazda’s signature wing grill and has the “predator-like” headlamps that are characteristic of KODO designed Mazdas.
To free up more space for occupants, not to mention powertrains, the car has a longer wheelbase and smaller overhangs. Nevertheless, it still enhances stability and passive safety.
It offers a change in style from what is popular in the B segment. A-pillars are moved 80mm closer to the back and the overall height is left unchanged.
The newest Mazda2 is the first bearing this name with a four-lamp LED design to be put into the signature low-slung headlamps.
Customers get a choice of ten different body colours. Among these are two all-new hues known as Dynamic Blue and Smoky Rose.
It comes with either 15 or 16 inch aluminium wheels or 150 inch steel wheels.
The car represents Mazda’s entry into the B segment of the car market, which represents 22 per cent of the passenger car market in Europe.
The five-door hatchback is set for release in early 2015.
