This is the cute new EV that everyone has been talking about & its not hard to see why!
If you’ve heard or read anything at all about the Honda e, no doubt these words have cropped up at least once, but is there anything else about this prototype worth exploring beyond its friendly appearance?
Yes, the circular headlights are pretty fun and the overall design of this car is a nice nod to the Hondas of our past, we’ll give you that. However, there is actually a lot more to this little city car than first meets the eye.
First of all, it is exactly that, a city car. It is not trying to be anything else and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. If you need responsive performance and a tiny turning circle (just 4.3 metres) then the Honda e delivers.
For urban driving, your main concerns are most likely going to be – how easy the car is to manoeuvre around the tight streets, how quickly can you get into a small parking spot and how much of the noisy city can be blocked out.
Honda have thought all of this through and come up with a compact, comfortable EV that steers well, has an Auto Park feature and a unique insulated interior, plus many other features that city commuters will appreciate.
The Honda e has stylish cameras in place of traditional mirrors & plenty of other quirky features
You might have spotted that this model is missing wing mirrors, at least the type we are used to seeing. That’s because they have been replaced with pop-out cameras with a feed going to 2 of the 5 screens on the dashboard. Combine this with the upright windscreen and you get visibility that’s second to none, perfect for keeping safe on busy roads.
Driving the ‘e’ really couldn’t be much simpler since, although there is a separate brake pedal, you can use single pedal control which is ideal for slow moving traffic.
The luxury, hi-tech interior features sustainable materials and the dashboard-spanning screens keep the driver informed for an engaging driving experience.
The Honda e has a high-capacity 35.5 kWh Lithium-ion battery that gives a range of around 125 miles and power is generated by a 148bhp electric motor.
