Ford have recently revealed new details on their upcoming 2018 Fiesta ST models and its exciting.
Launch control and improved cornering technology are just some of the new features coming to Ford’s latest Fiesta ST.
Launch control with a dedicated instrument cluster display and a mechanical limited-slip differential will both be optional extras on the latest ST, helping it fly off the line on the track and then more than hold its own through the twisty bits.
The third generation of the hot hatch is being loaded with high-end tech that Ford says will make it just as at home on the track as it will be on a trip to the shops.
Along with the performance-focused options, the new Fiesta ST will not be short of other toys. SYNC 3 connectivity, driver assistance tech – such as lane detection and traffic sign recognition – and a high-end audio system from B&O PLAY are some of the other optional extras available.
The third iteration of the ST features an all-new engine – a 200PS, three-cylinder, 1.5-litre EcoBoost model that takes it from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and will continue all the way up to 144mph.
Also new for this generation are selectable drive modes – Normal, Sport and Track – each of which offer different engine, steering and stability settings.
Leon Roeks, European performance director at Ford, said the company has applied what it learnt from the Focus RS and Ford GT when developing the new Fiesta ST.
“Hot-hatch drivers are expecting big things from this small car,” he noted, adding that it “sets a new standard for driving fun in its segment, with a throaty three-cylinder soundtrack that will speak to petrolheads whatever their language”.
The Fiesta ST will be available in both three and five-door variants when it launches later this year, with seven exterior colours and three trim levels – ST-1, ST-2 and ST-3 – for buyers to choose from.
