A seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) and a front axle differential lock (both standard) are tasked with power transmission and excellent traction.The Golf R – pretty much anyone\u2019s first choice of hot hatch – may be quicker and more powerful, but the GTI TCR\u2019s top speed of 155mph can be upped to 164mph by opting to remove the electronic Vmax limiter.This makes it the fastest Golf and generally the quickest Volkswagen licensed for use on public roads, which sounds fine by us! Sadly, this GTI TCR is only a prototype but there would be surely be plenty of interest if VW chose to make it a reality.More than 2.2 million Golf GTIs have been sold since it first emerged in 1976, making it one of the world’s most successful compact sports cars.What do you think of the Golf GTI TCR?
