The Porsche Macan was a massive hit when it originally burst into the showrooms in 2013 and now the Macan has now been treated to a mid-life refresh for 2018.
Amongst the changes for the facelifted SUV are a revised engine line-up, a new infotainment system, and tweaks to the chassis and styling. In terms of visual differences between this and the original Macan, you’d need the eyes of a hawk, so we may as well list them.
External changes
The side air intakes are now more vertical – emphasising the car’s width – while LED headlights now come as standard. Around the back, you’ll find new LED tail lamps stretched across the width of the boot lid – in the vein of its Cayenne big brother – as well as new 20- and 21-inch wheel designs and four fresh paint colours.
Interior changes
Inside, there’s a sportier steering wheel – pinched from the 911 – and a new 11-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Some fancy self-driving tech has made its way into the Macan too. Traffic jam assist allows the car to accelerate, brake and steer within lanes autonomously at speeds of up to 37mph, taking some of the pain away from congestion and sluggish roadworks.
Air quality in the cabin is improved with the addition of an ioniser, and new springs on the chassis are lighter and stiffer too, resulting in improved agility and body control.
Performance Changes
In terms of engines, the Macan has ditched the diesel and is now offered with one of three petrol units: the same 252bhp two-litre turbo as before, a new three-litre V6 with 351bhp (Macan S), and a 434bhp 2.9-litre V6 twin-turbo.
Potential Price Changes
No word on pricing yet but Porsche will definitely ask for more than the £46k starting price currently in place.
