May 21st 2012 and Birmingham saw the start of the Drift Allstars season with a line up of drivers from across Europe, including past and present champions. Niall Gunn, founded the Drift Allstars 5 years ago commented on the start of the season:
“The fifth season is kicking off with a bang at Birmingham speedway, with Skill ,Cars and teams taking a huge leap for 2012, it has come a long way in 5 years since the concept started… Every year we put on a massive show for the fans and this year will be will be bigger than ever!”
2011 champion James Deane had to retire his newly built SR powered Mazda Rx-7 because of mechanical issues and the LBD Achilles Tires V8 Nissan S13 had some issues so was on display only for the fans. Driver Dan Chapman is expected to have the car ready for Round 2.
Top qualifying place and the highest speed overall on the track went to Juha Rintanen but he took a penalty following a mechanical issue in the semi finals which caused a minor collision with Sinnot.
NIGHT FIGHT saw and exciting twin battle between Alan Sinnot in the Nexen Tire SR20 powered Toyota Corolla AE86 beat his team mate Luke Fink in the 1JZ powered S15. The battle was so close that the judges called for a sudden death round to decide the winner.

3rd: Juha Rintanen- LBD/ Achilles Tire Nissan S14a
Round 2 will take place on the 16th – 17th June at the O2 Arena in London.
