The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has announced it is to hold a seminar next year to highlight new methods for improving road safety in the UK.
Set to take place in Birmingham on March 7th, the event will provide a platform for members of the road safety sector to consult with government officials on the use of new technologies and means for getting the message across that safe driving is paramount for all road users.
Proposals that are set to be discussed include the use of social media to raise awareness of safe driving issues, as well as the implementation of black box technology in vehicles to record the behaviour of motorists.
Kevin Clinton, RoSPA's head of road safety, said: "As road safety practitioners continue to be asked to do 'more for less', this seminar will be examining how effective results can still be achieved and looking at new technologies, engagement methods and ways of working."
The Department for Transport reported earlier this year that the number of accidents that resulted in a fatality on the UK's roads rose by three per cent in 2011 in comparison to the previous year.
