Bentley outdo themselves with incredibly detailed, limited-production Continental
Limited to just ten cars, Bentley’s Continental GT V8 Equinox Edition is a Japan-only exclusive featuring a range of beautiful little-touches and details that you won’t find in other Continental GTs.
Using a monochrome pallet of colours including white, black and silver, Bentley Mulliner have created a handcrafted design for the Japanese market with a philosophy of simplicity. The ten examples of the Continental GT V8 Equinox Edition will be sold in six cities, namely Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Hiroshima and Yokohama.
Only available in black Onyx or Glacier White, the car’s already stunning silhouette will be seen in its purest, uninterrupted form thanks to pure black and white finishes. A carbon splitter, rear diffuser, boot lip spoiler and side sills can be found fitted and finished in high gloss black with metal Bentley wing inlays being found on the sills.
These carbon parts are available on other specifications but what’s unique to the Equinox Edition is the rich silver Moonbeam accent pinstripes found on the edges of the carbon pieces, offering a luxurious contrast to the all-black performance accessories. These silver accents are painted by hand on each car, taking five days to apply by expert craftsmen.
Sitting on 22” Mulliner Driving Specification wheels, another special and unique touch is added in the form of dark metallic Tungsten paint, a very popular colour option for wheels recently (and it’s easy to see why).
On the inside, you can expect the attention to detail to continue, or rather, become even more apparent. The seats, crafted in Beluga hide, are complemented with secondary silver-coloured hide seen on the headrest and seat edge panels. Seat stitching is also in contrasting silver colour, including the stitching on the steering wheel.
Other interior panels continue the theme of black and silver with wood veneers in Moonbeam silver and Grand Black, with the Mulliner logo being the cherry on top. The Bentley wings stitched into the seats are made of over 4,500 stitches and the hand-sprayed veneer is tested for consistent light reflections at multiple angles to ensure a perfectly even finish. No detail is left out.
The silver stitching used inside the Equinox Edition is unique and has been specially developed using special dyes that have been made to last for the lifespan of the vehicle whilst maintaining its colour.
Under the bonnet is Bentley’s latest 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, producing 542hp and 568 lb.ft of torque. Top speed is just under 200mph and it’ll be capable of 0-62mph in 4.0 seconds. All in all, the Continental GT V8 Equinox Edition is set to be a truly remarkable example of what Bentley is capable of and a guaranteed treat for the Japanse luxury market.
