An Aston Martin DB6 has achieved what is believed to be a world record auction price at the latest H&H event.
A 1969 Mark 2 DB6 in dark blue achieved the record figure of £242,000 at the auctioneer's sale last week (February 16th), with those in attendance helping to create a piece of automotive history.
The model had been professionally upgraded to incorporate a 4.2-litre engine and four-speed automatic transmission, with the vehicle attracting a number of bidders on the day resulting in the massive price tag.
It is not the first time a H&H auction has seen a new record for the sale of a DB6, with the auction house having a run of record prices for this model of automobile last year, but this latest sale tops them all.
Meanwhile, Aston Martin this week announced a raft of improvements that are to be implemented for the launch of the new Vantage range in 2012.
The luxury car manufacturer announced many of its models have been updated for this year's release, with the new V12 Zagato set to be the flagship vehicle for the brand following its launch.
Meanwhile, many of the models in the range are set to benefit from improved performance, handling and looks, the company stated.
Not just Aston Martins were sold at last week's H&H auction, with classic vehicle lovers flocking to the event from far and wide to bid on an array of classic vehicles.
A separate highlight of the event and one of the standout classic cars on the day was a 1963 Paul Bracq-designed pagoda-topped Mercedes-Benz W113 series SL Coupe which eventually sold for £37,000.
In addition, a cabriolet blue Porsche 930 in mint condition also attracted a number of bidders, with the rare model selling for £31,080 in the end.
