It seems like this year’s event promises to bring a stellar itinerary of races, parades and entertainment.At the media preview, organisers outlined the line up for the Silverstone Classic, which is due to run from July 25th to 27th and is the biggest classic car racing event in the world. It will combine the bygone racing prowess of Formula One (F1), GT and Super Touring Cars to name just a few.Last year’s event saw a total of 1,113 race entries getting involved and it is predicted that this year’s festival will feature even more attendees as advance ticket bookings are at an all-time high.Among the events that are scheduled for the weekend are the biggest ever parade of F1 cars. Three separate eras of possibly the world’s most famed racing sport will be on show on the Grand Prix circuit; the HGPCA Pre ’61 Grand Prix Cars, HGPCA Pre ’66 Grand Prix Cars and the FIA Masters Historic F1 series that ran from 1966 to 1985.The event also promises to deliver a range of 1990s GT Cars that can be seen in action throughout the event. A total of 40 automotive machines can be seen; cars from this era include the McLaren F1, Lister Storm, Porsche 911 GT1 and Chrysler Vipers to name few.This year will see the return of the Super Touring Car Championship, which organisers claim will be a call back to the golden era of saloon car racing. A number of major manufacturers and drivers will be involved in the event. Racers include John Cleland, Tim Harvey and Patrick Watts.What’s more, the event has been selected for the anniversary of the daddy of all American muscle cars. The Mustang Owners club will be celebrating 50 years of the Mustang with a variety of displays, demonstrations and parades. This will include two showdowns on the Silverstone circuit. One will feature a range of competition-prepared Mustangs while the other will include those that have featured in film.Event director Nick Wigley said: \u201cWe\u2019re always looking to add a new flavour to the event and this year we\u2019ll be welcoming two fantastic racing additions from iconic eras. We\u2019ll be showcasing the single biggest gathering of 1990s GT cars since they raced in-period and we\u2019ve also invited F3 cars from 1971 to 1984 to make their debut at the Classic, which was a period that included drivers like Jacques Laffite, Alain Prost and of course Ayrton Senna. Further to these enhancements we\u2019ll also be aiming to complete a world record parade of well over 100 Grand Prix cars led by Sir Stirling Moss OBE.”People interested in the Silverstone Classic can only buy tickets in advance.
