Last weekend a new show was born when Players Classic came to Goodwood. This is not your typical modified car show. There are no car clubs here, no cars with nothing more than after market wheels, no sheds, no endless rows of identical Focus STs or Mitsubishi EVOs.
Every car on display was hand picked by the organisers with everyone else relegated to the public car parks and that was apparent from the moment you drove through the Goodwood circuits hallowed gates.
Everything from full-on track monsters to diesel Audis with super-low air suspension and impressive ICE installs were in attendance.
Everything looked amazing against the historic Goodwood backdrop.
The shaded groves and white painted building on the entrance gave a Mediterranean feel, helped by the perfectly clear blue skies.
Whatever your thing, style wise, there was something there for you, from this Mk1 Golf pickup…
…to the insanely low show VAG cars of air suspension specialists Airlift Performance with their creative registration numbers.
If you like your cars a little more high end, Aston Martin had a few models on display in the Speedhunters paddock area.
But they didn’t draw the crowds quite like Mad Mike’s “Bad Bull” drift RX-8.
Especially after he and Fredric Aasbo had been out on track to show off what their cars can do.
For the very first time drifting was allowed at Goodwood.
Lot of cars were wearing Rotiform wheels (one of the event sponsors) but there also seemed to be a a mix and match theme occurring, with VWs wearing Porche and Bentley wheels and this big Mercedes shod in, of all things, Land Rover wheels!
This chap spent a few hours patrolling the show. Word has it he was looking for a new window to stick his head out of.
Even the service vehicles at Goodwood are a bit special.
And only here would you find this combination in the car park!
