The British Midland & Leaders Hill Climb Championship at Shelsley Walsh is set to welcome a host of classic Lotus vehicles as part of a festival celebrating the marquee later this year.
Taking place on August 18th and 19th at the historic motoring venue, the Paul Matty Sports Cars Lotus Hill Climb Championship will see up to 30 classic Lotus vehicles battling it out to be the fastest up the 1,000-yard hill.
Vehicles of note that will be taking part in the event include a trio of Grand Prix Lotus cars, two Lotus 30s and a number of Formula Junior models.
In addition, festivalgoers will be treated to a wide range of displays, including the recently completed Lotus 19 which was previously run by racing legends Jim Clarke, Graham Hill and Innes Ireland.
Paul Matty, marque specialist and sponsor of the event, commented: "But the weekend isn't just about Lotus as there will be dozens more cars taking to the track, some of which pack modern Formula One-style technology that enables them to touch 140 mph in places – with spectators just yards from the action."
He added that the championship will provide a true spectacle for Lotus fans, with road cars taking on dedicated racing vehicles, although the action will not be limited to the hill climb event.
Earlier this month, the first hill climb event of the year was held at Shelsley Walsh on May 5th and 6th. It saw an array of performance vehicles taking part, including father and son team Charles and James Williams of Claverley in their Force PC racing car.
Opened in 1905, the venue is the oldest dedicated motorsport arena in the world that has been constantly in operation.
Overall, the event is one not to be missed for fans of classic motors and fast-paced action.
