Individuals planning to head along to this year's Donington Historic Festival are in for a treat both in terms of the action on the circuit and the array of attractions of it.

The first Donington Historic Festival took place last year and the classic car showpiece is coming back in 2012 on May 5th and 6th.

Fans of an array of classic vehicles will be out in force for the festival this year, with some of the biggest sports car manufacturers and retailers of the last 100 years set to take part.

According to the event's organisers, the action will be coming thick and fast over the course of the weekend, with highlights set to include an exhibit from Bonhams' Goodwood sale featuring the 1929 Bentley 4.5-Litre supercharged racing single-seater.

It will also showcase a 956 Lotus-Climax Eleven Le Mans Sports-Racing two-seater and the 938 Bugatti Type 57C that was formerly owned by Le Patron Ettore Bugatti.

The 1940 Dodge race car transporter owned by Richard Jones will also be on show at the event, while other attractions are set to include an autograph signing session with former Formula One legend Sir Stirling Moss.

Fans of karting will also be able to get their hands dirty during the course of the festival, with the British Historic Kart Club's 'Karting in the Park' celebration taking place.

More than 150 historic karts will be on display for the public, including machines originally campaigned by Graham Hill and Ayrton Senna.

Finally, the magnificent Donington Grand Prix Collection will be open to visitors during the course of the event, with the exhibition the home of the largest single collection of Formula One cars in the world, with this year's festival tickets acting as two-for-one vouchers for museum entrance.
