Fans of classic vehicles from across the UK and in Scotland in particular have been urged to come out in force to show their support for the annual Scottish Malts rally, which will be taking place next week.
Organised by the Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation (Hero), the Scottish Malts will see participants embarking on a 1,000-mile journey throughout Scotland, running from April 30th to May 4th.
A host of classic vehicles will be taking part in the event in 2012, with registration open to any make or model of car built before December 31st 1981.
Patrick Burke, managing director of Hero, commented: "These cars are part of our motoring history and heritage, not everyone can take part but they can come along and get involved.
"We also hope that teachers will feel that the cars are part of our social and engineering history and that pupils might be given a few minutes to see the cars go through their local area."
The event will involve an array of skills for drivers, as it will see driving skill tests, timed stages and link sections throughout the week, with many of the stops situated at Scottish stately homes, castles and distilleries.
Standout models that have already signed up to be involved this year include an example of the very first right-hand -drive production Jaguar E-Type Fixed Head Coupe, as well as a 1930 Riley Brooklands 9HP and two Jaguar SS100.
Elsewhere, fans of the iconic Austin 7 are in for a treat if they head along to Beaulieu this July.
2012 will see the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the vehicle, with the festivities this year set to be bigger than ever at Beaulieu.
It is believed that only around 8,000 original Austin 7s still survive, as the model was only produced between 1922 and 1939.
However, it has become one of those vehicles which captures the heart and imagination of its owner, with this year's event set to see thousands of enthusiasts flocking to pay homage to the iconic Austin 7.
