Nissan has unveiled its new 370Z Nismo, the sportiest and most focussed 370Z made so far. Performance, design and engineering improvements are characteristic of the new car.

It follows behind the flagship GT-R Nismo and, just like other Nismo models manufactured over the last 30 years, has performance motoring at the centre of design and has been reworked so that the driving experience feels sharper and more engaging.

Powering the 370Z Nismo is a 344 PS 3.7-litre six-cylinder engine that delivers great torque at low revs and a broad power band. The car can go from zero to 100 km in a mere 5.2 seconds and is rear wheel drive. It sounds every bit a performance car as the Nismo dual exhaust system has been tuned to have that growling soundtrack.

This car is only available as a coupe with a six-speed manual gearbox. It has a number of suspension enhancements to make the ride more comfortable, including having rear spring and damper rates altered. Carpets and the inner rear wheel arch protector has also been adapted to ensure road noise is reduced further.

The entire look of the car appears to be fast and sleek. Its front bumper has been redesigned and has a larger air intake, more air inlets in front of the wheel arch and LED daytime running lights. The car also now comes with black headlamp bezels, a special red Nismo trim that can be spotted at the base of the bumper, a redesigned side sill and door mirror as well as its own Nismo badging. Another stylish feature is the inclusion of 19-inch Rays alloy wheels with a finish in black and silver.

At the back of the car are also some design features to be marvelled at, including a new bumper and spoiler design. The rear spoiler is smaller than on previous models and works with the front bumper to create more downforce when the car is being driven fast. This helps to ensure this force is distributed more evenly over the front and rear axles, meaning the car feels more balanced on the road.

Nissan claims that the new aerodynamic system on the 370Z Nismo means that it can get more downforce than any more of its rivals in the sector.

The interior of the car has been styled to give a real look of performance driving. It comes with Recaro seats that offer support and comfort and were based off the Recaro Sportster. The seats have been adapted to suit the 370Z Nismo specifically – they follow shell-based construction rather than a typical tubular frame seat and see an improvement in rigidity but also a reduction in weight. These seats are trimmed to matched the steering wheel with red and black leather and Alcantara.

At present, the 370Z remains the only car in the world that has a fully synchronised down/up shift rev control system, titled Synchro Rev Control.
