In case you missed the jawdropping Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 from August, well here it is. Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet, and the automotive world is all the better for it.
This time, Mercedes-Benz – which owns the Maybach brand – has given its S-Class convertible the Maybach treatment. The result is this, the Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet – the first modern-day drop-top to wear the M badge.
Now the S-Class was already super premium, but this rare work of art just takes it to another level.
The ultimate luxury car
We say ‘rare’ because only 300 of this four-seater open-top will be built, costing €300,000/£260,000.
For that kind of cash, there are absolutely no corners cut. Every single option box from the drop-top S-Class is ticked here, from the airscarf neck-warming system and aircap wind deflector to deep-pile floor mats and Swarovski headlamps.
But there are also a few touches exclusive to the Maybach, such as nine new colour concepts for the interior, textured 3D wood panelling and waterfall-effect leather trim.
An exclusive ‘The Affinity’ travel luggage set from ‘Maybach – Icons of Luxury’ comes as standard too. This includes two large travel bags, a pair of smaller lifestyle bags, all made of original leather to match the hide of your seats. The bags can be securely attached to each other with straps so they don’t rattle about in the boot.
The Mayback logo can be spotted in many areas throughout the car. Upon opening the doors, the logo is projected onto the floor. It can also be found embroidered on the front side of the seats, embossed on the back of the head restraints and in the centre console.
Engine-wise, it will use the same 621bhp six-litre twin-turbo V12 AMG engine as the AMG S 65. This means it can rally up to 62mph in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 155mph.
The car is so exclusive that each model comes with a unique ‘# of 300’ chrome plate and a certificate signed by Merc boss Dieter Zetsche.
The Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet goes on sale in spring 2017.
