One of the most important aspects of an executive car is how much it costs to run and the 2.0-litre TFSI engine can achieve 58.9mpg which will make those long journeys home a little lighter on the wallet.

This car certainly comes with a hefty price tag; it is in fact the second highest priced car on this list! Depending on what car you have, you could save money in the long run as the 2.0-litre 520d model can do 67.3mpg.

Prices- £34,440-£59,590

Bring in the Mercedes! We all knew it was coming and we have chosen the E-Class out of their prestigious range. As you would expect from Mercedes, the E-Class is extremely refined, comfortable and has looks that could kill.

The fuel economy on the E-Class is fantastic, especially with the 2.0-litre diesel engine that manages 72.4mpg! The technology inside the car is innovative and even has a smartphone-controlled remote parking system which makes this car one for the gadget lovers.  However there is the issue of price, the E-Class is the most expensive on the list.

Jaguar XE

Executive Cars. Jaguar XE

Prices- £26,990-£44,995

We have a British entry on our list of saloons to take on the dominant Germans and the Jaguar will up a mighty fight. The XE is very highly regarded in the saloon section and a starting price of £26,990 for a brand new executive Jaguar is an absolute steal. Plus it looks stunning.

If it’s economy you’re after, the 2.0-litre diesel engined XE will manage a staggering 74mpg. The XE is renowned for its comfortable and smooth driving, however there is the slight problem of the car feeling cramped for passangers in the back, and for an executive saloon, that shouldn’t be an issue.

Skoda Superb

Executive Cars. Skoda Superb

Prices- £19.060-£35,165

Skoda is a car manufacturer that most likely isn’t what you think of when you are looking for an executive car for a busy executive but in recent years they have definitely pulled it out of the bag.  Granted, you won’t get the same badge prestige as you would with a Mercedes or BMW but the looks are almost there.

The Superb is the lowest priced car on our list but is by no means the worst. It is a comfortable drive, has a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, a wide range of additional accessories and can even get 76.5mpg in its 1.6 TDI engine!

The Winner: The Audi A4

We have to give it to Audi, the A4 is a fantastic bit of engineering. It may not be the most fuel efficient car on the list, but it makes up for that in driving quality, looks and speed! More Executive Cars for Busy Executives? That’s it!
